The Lord spoke to my heart in fact in a way in which I actually heard His voice while on a trip to Israel in 2002. Clark was teaching about Peter and how Jesus instructed Peter to feed His sheep. I had moved up to the upper row of the Hippodrome at Caesarea Maritime (That’s where we were at the time) and as Clark taught the message the Lord spoke audibly to me also giving me a sense of His own heart and I could feel , His heart was weeping for His sheep. He said to me numerous times , “Paul feed my sheep”.
From that minute on my life has never been quite the same. So that was the calling into the ministry.
For 14 years after that I hosted and taught a bible study at my home. I found I really enjoyed teaching the word to adults, in fact who ever wanted to listen I love to share God’s word and God gave me a boldness with humility to do just that. I would say He equipped me for just that thing, to teach His Sheep! Jesus promised me back At Caesarea Maritime, that if I would rely on Him that He would provide everything I or we needed in this ministry. I have found His promises to be iron clad. He has met every need and beyond. Clark asked me to go up to Anza and take this little body over as their Pastor. I was really humbled and really quite dumbfounded. I didn’t believe that I was good enough or the right stuff to be a pastor. But I have found when you remain available to the Lord and trust Him beyond our own abilities, He will be with you and supply all your needs according to His riches in Christ Jesus! I Spent 36 years in the Fire Department. I loved the Fire Department and was blessed to retire as the Fire Chief of Murrieta. But that job as great and fun as it was doesn’t compare to being a pastor. I love it and love our congregation the people of His pasture! I love feeding His sheep and there you have it God reached down and saw me in the manure pile and for some reason decided to rescue me and not just rescue me but allow me to feed His sheep. Its all Him not about me.CCHC is a testimony of God’s power to provide and sustain His sheep.
I am proof of one thing only:
1 Cor 1:26-27 “For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called. But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty…”
Pray for us that we as a body would be one body and that the enemy would be held at bay from coming into the body bring division and strife, and that we would always be doing the work of the Lord with one unified heart in His love and His power not our own self will. Amen.
